psa: rule #2 and why it’s actually a whole thing

Unread post by last0lilith »

This is a quick PSA, everyone. I've had three PMs this week asking if the "don't pretend to be someone you're not" clause in Rule #2 has ever been enforced. It has. It will be. No, we don't check IPs just to be weird, but if someone is obviously doing a bit that crosses a line, the mods notice. Also while I'm here: please stop putting blinking signature gifs that crash the page, and if you misspell "Miscellaneous" I will petal you not actually but I will sigh. The rules thread is actually readable if you scroll past the "who even reads the rules" meme. Okay back to your regularly scheduled chaos.

pfft rule #2 is my favorite bc it sounds like a line from a very bad spy movie and yet here we are. i promise not to pretend to be anyone except my cat toodles, but only if she gives me permission. also the blinking gif thing should be rule #2.5: dont crash our dial-up. h8 that it still happens

Good. The "that was my cousin on my account" excuse was getting old. It derailed a whole page last week. Thanks, Lilith.

i have a whole saga with Rule #2 because every time i read it i think "what if my cat is the one actually posting from my account at 3am lol" and then i genuinely can't rule it out, but i also respect the intent. also can the blinking gif thing please become a real rule, my computer audibly wheezes every time. also thanks for the reminder lili.

I accept Rule #2.5 in the spirit it was offered. And to be clear: if you need to clarify an account-share, message me or Pixie. We can put a note on the account. That's better than the moon basement swallowing your explanation whole.

Your cat may post after she registers her own account and agrees to stop walking across the report button.

Rule #2.5 remains unofficial. The blinking gifs are on notice.
