ok so i was looking at the old pic thread from 05 and every single image is just... gibberish now. like a white square with a blue cube and a bunch of letters. did photobucket eat everything? i feel like we lost a whole year.

i noticed that 2!! i clicked on the pic of my cat from the pet thread and it was just like ???? gah. its kind of sad. all those pictures are just gone now.

so the only proof i ever had a turtle is just a broken link. great. xx

rose no. the digital ones WERE real. i couldnt print a photobucket, i didnt even have a printer, that doesnt make bunbun in her little sweater less real than a photo in a shoebox. stop pretending u dont care. i KNOW u had pics too

i had four. one was my turtle, before klaustras turtle even. fine. they were real. i just dont like that photobucket could turn them off whenever it wanted. thats all i meant.

the one that gets me is the ville wall. nefaria spent like a WEEK on that collage, every cheekbone angle in existence, and its just a broken box now. and the group pic from the 06 meetup. and the creepy hands thread omg. 4ever gone.

ok im going through the 05 thread in my head bc i cant actually see it anymore. post one was starbunnys bunbun as a baby, before the sweater, she was SO small. then velvettas black cat on the windowsill in a storm, sitting there like she was conducting it. the beagle that always looked so grumpy in every single picture, that was jokerettes. my Mochi in a santa hat that he HATED with his whole heart. and the one darklight posted of just her doc martens on a radiator, no caption, and everyone lost it over how goth it was. and the moth someone found on their porch that started the whole moth thing. i can SEE all of them perfectly and not one of them will load and i dont know why im doing this to myself at 2am. anyway. thats the ones i can still see.

genuine question, not blaming anyone. why were there no backups. is there a copy of any of it anywhere, or is a broken link actually just it, gone for good. I dont really understand how it works.

the images were never on our server, thats the thing. we only ever stored the LINK. the actual jpg lived on photobucket for free, and when the free accounts went dead photobucket just deleted the pictures. there was nothing on our end to back up, the jpg was never here. thats just how free image hosting worked in 2005, you pasted a link and hoped. sorry.
